Superb trek from Marrakech at 4000 meters over 2 days.
Not one for the faint of heart… Or legs. We start off in the village of Imlil, at 1800 meters high, famous for being the base for the ascent to Toubkal, at 4160 meters high. Well, our trek will follow a different rift. After a couple of hours, we reach our first pass at 2300 meters high and stop to admire the view. The next two hours are an easy walk with slight descending slope to then start ascending again to the local waterfalls. Remote shepherd dens and herds of cattle occasionally greet the eye. The mountain side is carved in terraces to allow for a few cultures of maize and millet. The very few locals you will cross will most likely offer you a tea. Have lunch at a local gite to then follow up to 3000 meters high where the spartan French Alpine Refuge will accommodate you for the night. Next day, either return via a different track ( descent) or trek up to the plateau above at 4000 meters high for some mesmerizing views and guaranteed solitude.
